How do I subscribe to the ITRANS Service?

Dentists are no longer required to submit an ITRANS Subscription form. The subscription is now done online on the Canadian Dental Association website.

  • Instructions:
  • Visit services.cda-adc.ca
  • Login using your existing username and password for the CDA website
  • Click “MY SUBSCRIPTIONS”
  • Click “Subscribe” button

If you have any CDA username and password related inquiries, or require general technical support, you can contact the CDA Practice Support Services Help Desk at 1-866-788-1212.

How do I download my Digital Certificate ?

The digital certificates needed for the ITRANS Claims Service are issued by Canadian Dental Association.
The certificates are called the CDA Digital ID and are available directly from the CDA website.

  • Instructions:
  • Visit services.cda-adc.ca
  • Login using your existing username and password for the CDA website
  • Click “My CDA Digital ID”
  • Choose office and click “Download Digital ID”

How do I install the ITRANS Communication Application (iCA)?

Pre installation Checklist

  1. The iCA works in conjunction with your practice management software. Please consult your practice management software vendor before installing the iCA to ensure proper operation
  2. Uninstall any version of the iCA older than 2.4.1.1 before installing the iCA
  3. If you intend to use the iCA’s CCDWS support to send to Alberta Blue Cross install the CCDWS before installing the iCA and take note of the installation path

Installation Steps

  1. Download the iCA from here
  2. Run the iCA_setup.exe file
    • Windows smartscreen may detect the application as “unknown”, users may need to click on “Run Anyway” or “More Info” then “Run Anyway”
  3. Click Next
  4. Accept the License agreement if you agree and click on Next
  5. Read the important information and click on Next
  6. Select the folder where you would like the iCA to be installed and click on Next
  7. Select the folder you would like set as the iCADirectory and click on Next
  8. Select if you would like to run the iCA as a Tray Application, or Service
  9. If being installed as a Tray Application please refer to the “Tray Application Instructions” below If being installed as a service please refer to the “Service Instructions” below.

Tray Application Instructions

  1. Check the box if you would like to launch the iCA at startup
  2. Check the box if you intend to send to Alberta Blue Cross and would like to enable the iCA’s CCDWS support
  3. Click on Next
    • If CCDWS Support was selected set the CCDWS ABC folder value and click on Next
  4. Review the installation details and click on Install

Service Instructions

  1. Enter the username and password for the account that has the ITRANS or CDA Certificate that will be used to launch the iCA Service
  2. Check the box if you intend to send to Alberta Blue Cross and would like to enable the iCA’s CCDWS support
    • If CCDWS Support was selected set the CCDWS ABC folder value and click on Next
  3. Click on Next
  4. Review the installation details and click on Install

How do I resolve the ITRANS Communication Application (iCA) installation Issues?

Problem

Error 1720. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Custom action DownloadInstallRootCertificates script error -2147012739, WinHttp.WinHttpRequest: An error occurred in the secure channel support

 

Resolution

  • Issue with installation is occurs on older operating systems not supporting TLS 1.2 by default, making the installer unable to properly download the root certificates.
  • The way around the problem is to install the iCA manually by doing the following:
    • Download the iCA Archive folder from here
    • Copy the content of the iCA archives folder into your icadirectory(This is where you usually install the ICA)
    • Modify the ‘icadirectory” path in the iCA configuration settings file(iCA.ini) to the folder where your software writes the input files.

How you process a “request for outstanding transaction” or a “request for pended claims” is unique to each piece of practice management software. What are the firewall/communication details for the iCA?

Depending on the practice management software vendors implementation of the iCA; either the iCA.exe, iCAService.exe or vendor application.exe will open an outbound tcp connection on port 9660 to site1.continovation.com and site2.continovation.com

Claims Submission Issue with ITRANS 2.0
