Digital Certificates for Dentists

The digital certificates needed for the ITRANS Claims Service are being issued by CDA. The certificates are called the CDA Digital ID and are available directly from the CDA website. If you have a username and password for the CDA website, you can login. The CDA website will validate your account, and once validated, you will be able to obtain the CDA Digital ID, as well as manage your CDAnet and ITRANS services.

CDA Digital Download Instructions

The certificates may be downloaded directly from the CDA website by doing the following:

  • Visit services.cda-adc.ca
  • Login using your existing username and password for the CDA website
  • Click “My CDA Digital ID”
  • Choose office and click “Download Digital ID”

*Note that the CDA Digital ID is required on a computer that runs the ITRANS. In some cases, it’s only required on the server computer and in others, it’s downloaded on each computer used for sending claims. It all depends on the practice management software used in the office. If not sure where it’s required, offices may simply contact their software provider for more information.

If you have any CDA username and password related inquiries, or require general technical support, you can contact the CDA Practice Support Services Help Desk at 1-866-788-1212.

CDA Digital ID Renewal

Dentists are sent an expiry notice 30 days via email before their Digital IDs expire. The expiry notice contains instructions on how to login to the CDA Practice Support Services (PSS) website to download a new CDA Digital ID. It is possible that the certificates referenced in the expiry notice are no longer in use and do not need to be renewed for the following reasons:

  • The certificate(s) in question was installed on a computer that is no longer in use or not used to send electronic claims.
  • The certificate(s) in question was installed on a computer that has had its software reloaded.
  • The certificate(s) in question was installed in a windows user account that is no longer in use or not used to send electronic claims.
  • The certificate(s) in question was installed in a windows user account that has been deleted and recreated.

Before renewing, it’s recommend to check first if the Digital ID referenced to is really expiring and needs to be renewed by checking the exact expiry date on the computer(s) that runs the ITRANS application as follow:

Click on “Start” button of the computer–>Click “Control Panel” –> Click “Internet Options” –>Content Tab and Click on the ‘Certificates” button –>Check the “Expiration date” under the “Personal tab
