Allows all health care providers, insurance companies, and other health industry businesses to conduct secure ITRANST electronic transactions
TORONTO, Ontario - October 6, 2003 - Soltrus Inc., the leading provider of digital trust services, today announced it has been selected by Continovation Services Inc., (CSI) to provide digital trust certificates for its eHealth Trust Model. These certificates will be used to authenticate users and secure transmissions for CSI's ITRANST system in the Canadian and global marketplace as well as being trusted by other firms for their own secure communications with the health provider community. ITRANST, a secure Internet-based transmission system, supports electronic healthcare transactions, supplements existing paper and electronic data interchange claims submissions, and other financial transactions.
The Soltrus managed trust infrastructure solution, powered by VeriSign, will provide each eHealth Trust Model user with a digital certificate that will be used by CSI to authenticate them and allow them access to the ITRANST services to execute various secure transactions confidentially.
ITRANST provides many new benefits for the healthcare industry, while ensuring that each Internet transaction remains secure. With ITRANST, customers will be able to achieve lower operating expenses and improve service and quality by using many new features such as:
"Healthcare information documents include among the most sensitive of data and need to be absolutely secure and protected, especially when it is being transmitted over the Internet," said Brenda Naylor, President and Chief Operating Officer, Continovation Services Inc. "With our strategic alliance with Soltrus to deliver our joint product offering using their Managed Public Key Infrastructure (MPKI) service, patients and healthcare workers can remain confident their ITRANST information is viewed and processed by authorized users and each data exchange remains safe, secure and confidential."
"By developing and building a global eHealth Trust Model for the whole industry rather than just for our specific needs with ITRANST, we help to foster e-commerce within the entire health industry while reducing the cost and management burden seen with other authentication models," added Naylor.
With the growing concern over the privacy and confidentiality of information being transmitted over the Internet, CSI realized early on that trust was going to be an integral part of the ITRANST system to meet current and future requirements of evolving legislation. By building the Soltrus solution right into the service at the onset, Continovation is able to demonstrate to the market that security and confidentiality of information is at the forefront of this combined solution.
"Soltrus is pleased CSI has selected our managed trust and security solutions to ensure the integrity of their Internet-based transaction system," said Peter Ricciardi, President and CEO Soltrus Inc. "With our best-of-breed technology built into the ITRANST system, Soltrus provides CSI, healthcare providers, patients and the healthcare industry as a whole, the assurance that critical healthcare information and transactions are protected and secure."
